Flowline iron
Flowline equipment for high-pressure well service
The temporary high-pressure iron that joins pumps, wellheads and manifolds on frac, flowback, cementing and well test jobs, made in AISI 4130 for union figures from 602 to 2002.
Flowline equipment, also called flow iron or treating iron, is the high-pressure pipework rigged up between pumps, manifolds and the wellhead for fracturing, flowback, cementing, acidizing and well testing, then broken down and moved to the next job. We supply the full set: hammer unions and crossovers, swivel joints, integral pup joints and hose loops, plug, check and relief valves, and positive and adjustable chokes with their beans, in AISI 4130 and other alloy steels for union figures from 602 to 2002, standard or sour service, with EN 10204 3.1 certificates.

Sizes in 64thsTees, crosses, ells, laterals and long sweep ells with union ends machined from one forging are on the 4130 integral fittings page.
Choose by union figure and service
Every part in a flowline is made, rated and marked for one hammer union figure, and the figure sets the cold working pressure. These are the figures used on high-pressure iron, with the ratings union makers publish:
| Figure | Standard service | Sour gas service | Typical jobs |
|---|---|---|---|
| FIG 602 | 6,000 psi | - | Mud, cement and low-pressure test lines |
| FIG 1002 | 10,000 psi | 7,500 psi | Cementing, acidizing, well service |
| FIG 1502 | 15,000 psi | 10,000 psi | Frac, flowback, cementing and well test iron |
| FIG 2002 | 20,000 psi | - | Very high-pressure well service |
| FIG 2202 | - | 15,000 psi | High-pressure sour gas service |
Ratings as published by union makers, for example TechnipFMC for its Weco figures. The full chart, including low-pressure figures, is in hammer union figures explained.
Material, testing and marking
High-pressure flowline parts are machined from AISI 4130 forgings or bar, quenched and tempered to the strength the figure needs. For hydrogen sulfide service they are tempered to 22 HRC maximum under NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156-2, rated at the sour version of the figure and marked as sour parts.
Each part is hard stamped with the figure, size, cold working pressure and heat number, and ships with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate of chemistry, heat treatment, tensile and hardness results. Hydrostatic testing, often at 1.5 times the cold working pressure, magnetic particle inspection of threads and third-party witness are added when your order asks for them. See testing and documents.

We make these parts to the API 6A and API 16C requirements your order calls up: material, dimensions, tests and marking as specified. We do not hold an API license, so the parts do not carry the API Monogram. If your specification requires monogrammed equipment, the quotation says so plainly.

State the product, size, union figure and end configuration (male or female), the service, the test pressure and any third-party inspection. A rig-up drawing or a line list works as well.
